Pengertian Tenses
Tenses adalah bentuk kata
kerja dalam bahasa Inggris untuk menunjukkan waktu (sekarang, masa depan, atau
masa lalu) terjadinya suatu perbuatan atau peristiwa.
Maacam – macam tenses
1. Simple
Present Tense
Tense ini untuk menyatakan
fakta, kebiasaan, dan kejadian yang terjadi pada saat sekarang ini.
Rumus: S + V-1
Ex:
a.
We agree with the speaker’s opinion.
b.
The earth goes around the sun.
c.
I work in a book shop.
d.
I get up 5 o’clock every morning
e.
In summer, john usually plays bowling once a
week.
2. Present
Continuous Tense
Tense ini untuk membicarakan
aksi yang sedang berlangsung sekarang atau rencana dimasa depan.
Rumus: S + am/is/are +
present participle (V1+ing)
Ex:
a.
I’m driving a car to Bandung now.
b.
We are watching movies at the newest theater
in town.
c.
You are working hard today
d.
Lily is playing tennis tournament this week.
e.
Tom is bulding his own house.
3. Present
Perfect Tense
Tense ini digunakan untuk
mengungkapkan suatu aktivitas atau situasi yang telah dimulai di masa lalu dan
telah selesai pada suatu titik waktu tertentu di masa lalu atau masih berlanjut
sampai sekarang.
Rumus: S + have/has + past
participle (V3)
Ex:
a.
I have lived in Cilegon for 3 months.
b.
I have lost my key.
c.
Chintya has gone to Australia
d.
Bella has lived in Yogyakarta all her live
e.
I have never smoked
4. Simple
Past Tesnse
Tense ini untuk menunjukkan
bahwa suatu kejadian terjadi dimasa lampau.
Rumus: S + V-2
Ex:
a.
The party started at 10.00 a.m.
b.
She studied very hard last night.
c.
We went to Malaysia last month.
d.
Two days ago, john went to bookstore and
bought books.
e.
Last night, I got up of the bed and answered
phone from my mom.
5. Past
Perfect Tense
Tense ini untuk menyatakan
bahwa suatu aksi telah selesai pada suatu titik di masa lalu sebelum aksi
lainnya terjadi.
Rumus: S + had + past
participle (V3)
Ex:
a.
When he came last night, the cake had run
out.
b.
When I arrived at party last night, john had
already gone home.
c.
When she got home, she found that someone had
broken into my room and had stolen my television.
d.
Anne had completely read one novel when I visited
her.
e.
He had finished working when his mother visited
him.
6. Past
Continuous Tense
Tense ini digunakan untuk
mengungkapkan bahwa suatu aksi sedang terjadi pada waktu tertentu dimasa
lampau.
Rumus: S + was/were +
present participle (V1+ing)
Ex:
a.
The team was playing basketball all day
yesterday.
b.
I were listening to the radio when he came.
c.
What were you doing at 8 o’clock last night?
d.
While I was playing tennis yesterday, I hurt
my legs.
e.
It was raining when he got up.
7. Simple
Future Tense
Tense ini untuk menyatakan
bahwa suatu aksi terjadi dimasa depan, baik secara spontan, maupun terencana.
Rumus: S + will + bare
infinitive (V1)
Ex:
a.
You will win the game.
b.
I will go to Bangkok next month.
c.
Shanti will write a thiller novel.
d.
We shall swim together next week.
e.
I shall visit my grandmother tomorrow. She has
been ill for years.
8. Future
Perfect Tense
Tense ini untuk
mengungkapkan bahwa suatu aktivitas akan sudah selesai pada suatu titik waktu
di masa depan.
Rumus: S + will + have +
past participle (V3)
Ex:
a.
At this time next month, I’ll have finished
my English course.
b.
They will have worked for 3 years at the
pizza restaurant in May 2010.
c.
I will not swum at 4 p.m. tomorrow.
d.
I will have been in this hospital until
tomorrow morning
e.
Eric will not have been in his room until
tomorrow afternoon
9. Future
Continuous Tense
Tense ini untuk
mengungkapkan aksi yang akan sedang terjadi pada waktu tertentu di masa depan.
Rumus: S + will + be +
present participle (V1+ing)
Ex:
a.
He will be sleeping at 10 p.m.
b.
She will learning music next Tuesday at
Harmony Music Studio.
c.
We will be watching cinema at 7 p.m.
tomorrow.
d.
What time will she be sleeping tonight?
e.
Where will they be travelling next week?
